Hibs have announced that yet another of the club's highly rated U19 side has signed a new contract.

Defender Kanayo Megwa has signed a new 2-year-deal to keep him tied to Easter Road until the summer of 2025.

Megwa,18, who can play at right back or in the centre of defence has also joined Scottish League One side Kelty Hearts on loan.

He was part of the Hibees U18 league winning side last season, and a part of the U19's that went on that excellent run to the last 32 of the Uefa Youth League, losing 1-2 to Borussia Dortmund, aftre earlier knocking out Molde and Nantes.

Speaking to the official club website, Youth Supremo Steve Kean said:

“Kanayo has been one of the standout performers for us this season and is thoroughly deserving of his new deal.

“He has really developed since he joined the Club and has shown he is comfortable playing in several different positions.

“In the short-term, his loan move to Kelty Hearts will give him a good opportunity to experience regular senior football at a high level, which will put him in good stead for fighting for a place in the Hibs First Team squad next season.”

HIBS-MAD VIEW:

The Hibees are fair tying down as many of the exciting youth squad as they can, and Megwa becomes the latest.

The loan deal is massive for his development, we look forward to his return.

Good luck kid.
