Ross Campbell and Joe Keenan told they can go by Hibs boss John Hughes

Hibs boss John Hughes has revealed that striker Ross Campbell and midfielder Joe Keenan have been told they can leave Easter Road.

The pair have been deemed surplus to requirements as Hughes re-shapes the Hibees squad ahead of the new SPL season.

Ross Campbell has moved quickly to set himself up, by signing for Swedish club club Ostersunds FK.

The 22-year-old has signed until the end of the season and joins former Hearts midfielder Lee Makel at the club.

Campbell, who broke through the youth system at Easter Road, only made 5 starts for the Hibees in his 4 years at the club, and now goes with the best wishes of Hughes.

Midfielder Joe Keenan has also been told he can leave the club, after failing to hold down a regular place in the side since signing from Australian club Melbourne Victory last summer.

26-year-old Keenan made only 15 appearances for Hibs and scoring 1 goal, in the 4-3 CIS Cup defeat to Morton at Easter Road.

The former Chelsea and Willem II player is now also on the look-out for a new club.

Hibs boss John Hughes gave both players his best wishes, and said:

"I had a word with Ross and Joe and told them they were not going to be in my plans, there's nothing personal, it's unfortunate but that's football.

"There will be another one or two as we go along.

"My vision of where I want to take this club long term will involve constantly shuffling the pack. I'm constantly assessing and re-assessing.

"I was I not going to lead them up the garden path, I have been honest enough to tell them they could look for another club."

Hughes added:

"Joe is an absolutely fantastic, lovely guy, a real professional and Ross is a great wee striker.

"Both impressed me with their attitude but as manager I had to be totally honest with them and give them the chance to find another club where, hopefully, they will get regular first team football.”

Keenan and Campbell join an ever growing list of players to leave the Hibees in recent months.

Outgoings so far at Easter Road, read like this:
